Driving Commercial Landscaping Across South Carolina
For more than 40 years, Heritage has been a trusted leader in commercial landscaping throughout South Carolina, specializing in landscape installation, maintenance and stormwater services.
Heritage founder Robert McLeod grew up working on his family’s peach farm in McBee, South Carolina, where he developed a deep appreciation for plants, agriculture and the outdoors. After years of drought made farming increasingly difficult, Robert moved to Lexington and founded Heritage, combining his agricultural background with an entrepreneurial spirit. He often describes himself as an “urban farmer,” bringing his passion for cultivating the land into the landscaping industry.
Robert’s wife, Debbie, also played an important role in the company’s early success as a talented landscape designer who helped create many of the beautiful outdoor spaces Heritage became known for.
Today, Heritage is co-owned and led by Robert’s son, Ashley McLeod, and son-in-law, Kleck Harman. The third generation is also beginning to make its mark, with Ashley’s and Kleck’s sons gaining hands-on experience across multiple areas of the company with the goal of one day stepping into leadership roles themselves.
Growth Through Innovation and Relationships
Since Ashley and Kleck assumed ownership in 2020, Heritage has expanded across the state. By building a strong, service-focused team, the company has expanded operations into the Charleston and Greenville markets to better serve long-standing client relationships and develop new partnerships.
Heritage has also evolved beyond traditional landscaping services to provide more comprehensive outdoor solutions for commercial properties. In addition to landscape installation and maintenance, the company now offers sitework and paving packages, arbor care, green space development, native planting solutions and other specialized property services designed to help clients maintain safe, functional and visually appealing environments year-round.
While Heritage has grown considerably over the past several years, the company remains grounded in the same principles it was founded on more than four decades ago: hard work, doing the right thing and building lasting relationships.
